Police said five children in a local school bus and the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee were injured following a collision between the bus and the Jeep near the corner of Falls Road and Maryland Ave. Monday morning after 8:30 a.m.
“I believe the Jeep Cherokee basically made a left turn in front of the bus and the bus just t-boned the Jeep Cherokee,” said Rockville Police Officer Ed Vallejo. “We had five children transported to the hospital and the two drivers.”
According to Dana Tofig, of the Montgomery County Public School System, the five children were not seriously injured but transported for “precautionary reasons.”
According to Vallejo, no one was seriously injured in the accident.
“We’ll do our complete investigation and I’ll head to the hospital as soon as it’s complete,” said Tracy Marquez, transportation cluster manager for Montgomery County Public Schools.
“The remaining children were taken by another bus to their school,” said Tofig. “All of them are fine and were checked out in the health room at their school. Parents have been notified.”
