ROCKVILLE- Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio shared on Monday that she received life-saving care from doctors and nurses at a local hospital.

Marcuccio said she went to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda last Thursday for a routine angioplasty, but during her visit, doctors found reason to provide Marcuccio with emergency treatment that required them to place a stint in an artery.

“It was routine, except for me, and if it wasn’t for the tremendous effort of that operating room team you would have another mayor here tonight. It’s a shout-out to them all. They put me in the best possible shape. I’m back,” Marcuccio said.

Marcuccio went on to say the stint was very small, only 18 millimeters by 3.5 millimeters, which she said made the difference in her being at the City Council meeting where she made the announcement.

“It’s a shout-out to Suburban and the wonderful team of doctors and nurses that took great care of me. Thank you so very much,” Marcuccio said.
