The director of admissions at the Washington Christian Academy in Olney turned himself in to Montgomery County Police last week after being accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old female student, according to a police report.
Montgomery County Police arrested Thomas Charles Wilson, 47, of the 17600 block of Coatbridge Place in Olney. Two days before Wilson turned himself in, county detectives interviewed a 14-year-old girl who reported being inappropriately touched by Wilson. The police report said Wilson is expected to be charged with one count of sexual abuse of a minor, two counts of third-degree sexual offense, and one count of fourth-degree sexual offense, according to police.
Police spokesman Capt. Paul Starks said in released statement that police believe the girl was from Jan. 1 to Feb. 1, but sexual offenders are not often charged with abuse based on one person’s account, alone.
Police declined to provide a statement of charges until detectives finish interviewing Wilson and he is formally served by a police commissioner, Starks said.
On Thursday, the head of Washington Christian Academy, Larry Danner, released a statement that the private school is cooperating with the investigation, and that Wilson was named the director of admissions in November 2008.
Police did not report any other victims, but are contacting those who may have any information about the case, according to Starks.
Anyone who may know of any inappropriate contact Wilson may have had with a minor is asked to contact Detective K. E. Leggett of the Family Crimes Division at 240-773-5426.
