Montgomery County native Dan Englestad has been named the new head coach of the men’s basketball program at Southern Vermont College.
Englestad, a former three-sport standout who graduated from Walt Whitman High School, has been an assistant at Division I College of the Holy Cross for the past three seasons. He replaces Michael McDonough who was promoted to full-time Director of Athletics at the Vermont school.
“I’m thrilled to be appointed as the head men’s basketball coach at Southern Vermont College,” said Englestad. “I have always wanted to be a Division III head basketball coach and am grateful to president (Karen) Gross and the Southern Vermont College community for giving me this opportunity. I also want to thank Milan Brown and Holy Cross for the great opportunity they have given me over the last three years.”
During his tenure at Holy Cross, Englestad helped lead the Crusaders to an overall record of 35-53 and a 20-22 mark in Patriot League regular season play.
