Police are investigating a shooting in Gaithersburg that left one man in critical condition.
On Jan. 7 at approximately 6:15 a.m., Gaithersburg City and Montgomery County Police responded to the 1200 block of Knoll Mist Lane in Gaithersburg for a report of a shooting. Officers found an adult male victim suffering from a gun shot wound on the first floor of a town home.
Police identified the suspect as 19-year-old Daniel Floyd Lucas, of no fixed address. Police obtained a warrant charging him with three counts of first degree assault and three counts of reckless endangerment, but have not served that warrant yet.
The victim is still being treated at an area hospital. Police say Lucas and a third person were wrestling for control of a gun when the victim – who was not involved in the altercation – was shot.
Police are asking that anyone with information about the shooting or the whereabouts of Lucas calls detectives from the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or 240-773-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment.
