Police arrest and charge two male students with rape at high school Featured

Montgomery County Police arrested and charged two male students, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, in connection with the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl at a high school, according to a news release.

The two individuals are being held without bond, according to Montgomery County State’s Attorney Spokesperson Ramon Korionoff.

Officer Rick Goodale, Montgomery County Police spokesperson, said police arrested 17-year-old Jose O. Montano of an unconfirmed address, and 18-year-old Henry E. Sanchez of Bel Pre Road in the Aspen Hill area, at Rockville High School Thursday after investigating reports that they allegedly raped a teenage girl inside a boys’ bathroom Thursday.

Police charged each student with one count of first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sexual offense.

Police said two male students approached the female student in a hallway at Rockville High School Thursday and asked her to walk with them. According to the release, one of them asked the teenage girl twice to have sex with them; when she refused, the older student forced the female student into a boys’ bathroom and into a bathroom stall, where each raped her in the stall.

Police charged both suspects as adults. Montano and Sanchez were taken to Rockville District Court for a bond review Friday, police said.

Gboyinde Onijala, Montgomery County Public Schools spokesperson, said Rockville Principal Billie-Jean Bensen sent a letter to parents of all attending students to notify them of the incident Friday morning.

Bensen asked parents to have their children inform school staff if they are victims of assault.

“Ensuring a safe, secure and welcoming learning environment for all of our students is our top priority. Our staff remains vigilant in the monitoring of our school each and every day,” Bensen said. “Please remind your child that if they believe they are a victim of an assault or see something inappropriate, they should immediately tell a staff member.”
