County police investigating double homicide in Montgomery Village Featured

Montgomery County police are investigating a double homicide of two high school students that occurred inside a vehicle on the 8200 block of Gallery Court in Montgomery Village Monday night.

Police identified the victims as a 17-year-old boy, Shadi Adi Najjar of Breezedale Lane in Germantown, and an 18-year-old man, Artem S. Ziberov, of Flag Harbor Drive in Germantown on Tuesday.

Montgomery County Public Schools spokesperson Gboyinde Onijala said both victims were seniors at Northwest High School and were scheduled to graduate Tuesday.

Montgomery County Police Department Capt. Paul Starks said the two teens were pronounced dead at the scene.

When police arrived, the two victims were suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds, but police won’t know for sure until staff from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner rule on the cause of death, Starks said.

Starks said police will release more details as they acquire information and evidence in the investigation.

“They don’t want to rule anything out and are not able to label the type of investigation or motive at this time,” Starks said Tuesday.

Starks said a resident called police at 10:46 p.m. Monday, reporting hearing gunshots on the 8200 block of Gallery Court.

Starks said police worked through the night on the investigation and continue to do so.

Police urge anyone who has information about the case to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.

Crime Solvers of Montgomery County offers a reward of up to $10,000 for information that helps police arrest suspects, Starks said. Anyone with a tip can call Montgomery County Crime Solvers toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
