Police arrest and charge two male students with rape at high school

Montgomery County Police arrested and charged two male students, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, in connection with the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl at a high school, according to a news release.

The two individuals are being held without bond, according to Montgomery County State’s Attorney Spokesperson Ramon Korionoff.


10 suspects arrested in connection with Gaithersburg teen’s death

Fairfax County Police said Wednesday that officers took 10 suspects into custody in connection with the death of a Gaithersburg teenager, according to a police news release.

Police charged the suspects with abduction and gang participation, according to the release.

Police said detectives from both Fairfax and Montgomery counties continue to investigate the killing of 15-year-old Damaris A. Reyes Rivas of Gaithersburg, whose death they confirmed Monday. Her body was found in Springfield, Va.

Montgomery County police arrested five people in connection with the murder of 22-year-old New Jersey man Jordy Mejia, which police believe is gang-related.

Police charged Neris Moreno, 19 years old of West New York; Nj; Jackelin Leiba-Esperanza, 16 of Brentwood, Maryland; Reynaldo A Granados-Vasquez, 21, of Gaithersburg; Jose Israel Melendez-Rivera, 18 of Montgomery Village; and Katerine Solorzano-Aparicio, 17, of Hyattsville with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.


Christian rap artist sentenced

ROCKVILLE -- After being convicted of second-degree murder for ramming William Dean McDaniel with his car, Ryan Anthony Salandy was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Anne Korbel Albright sentenced Salandy, 23, to 18 years in prison with the possibility of parole after nine. Salandy was also sentenced to five years of supervised probation after his prison sentence, in which he will have to complete a face-to-face anger management program.
