The Grille in Flower Hill offers food and some fun

GAITHERSBURG- Music, food and liquor. You can find it all in Flower Hill at The Grille.
The idea of a successful family-owned and operated restaurant serving only fresh food seems anachronistic in today’s economy, but that’s what the owners of The Grille at Flower Hill in the Flower Hill Shopping center hope to achieve.

The restaurant and bar, which opened in September last year, offers traditional American cuisine like burgers, chicken tenders, and pizza, along with several domestic and imported beers and mixed drinks. It has already attracted a loyal clientele.
“I hardly have any freezer space,” said Bill Moore, who co-owns the Grille with his wife, Patty. “Everything’s fresh. We make our own French fries, our own potato chips.”
While Patty has worked in the restaurant industry for many years, the Grille is a new endeavor for Bill, who previously spent 27 years working in communications and information technology.
The Grille is the latest Montgomery County establishment to host Mike Dombrowski of Yahoo Karaoke, who has provided karaoke to area bars and restaurants for over a decade. Wednesday night is karaoke night at the Grille.
“This is the best management, best menu, best overall spot that Mike’s had in a while,” said Doug Anderson, a longtime regular of Dombrowski’s karaoke nights, who enjoys singing classic rock.
In addition to karaoke, the Grille hosts live trivia on Thursdays and bands on most Saturdays. On March 25, the Grille will host a charity comedy event to benefit Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless.
Comics Bill King and Kelly Terranova will entertain and provide laughs that night.
“My wife and I are firm believers that what you give to your community, you get back tenfold,” Moore said.
The Moores plan to eventually open four more restaurants.
