OLNEY – Good Counsel seniors Amanda Fioravanti and Lindsey Spann combined for 43 points Friday in the Falcons’ 81-62 home victory over Washington Catholic Athletic Conference rival Paul VI Catholic.

Good Counsel (22-3) won their tenth consecutive game and avenged their last loss, last month’s two-point loss to Paul VI (25-2).

“It’s a very big game,” said Fioravanti, a Virginia signee who finished with a game-high 22 points. “We treated it like any other conference game. We came out and played our hardest and got it done.”

Paul VI, at the time ranked No. 10 in the USA Today Super 25 girl’s basketball poll, suffered their second loss in three games.

The Panthers are without 6-foot-2 senior center Kasey Curtis, who watched from the sideline in a wheelchair. The William & Mary signee is out with a torn ACL.

Marlena Tremba, a 5-foot-9 senior guard who has also signed with William & Mary, led four Panthers in double figures with 18 points.

Jonquanae Cole, a 6-foot-4 sophomore center, finished with 12 points. Ariana Freeman, a West Virginia commit, scored 11 points and Jasmine Whitney added 10 points in the loss.

Meanwhile, Spann, a three-year starter who has signed with Penn State, finished with 21 points and reached the 1,000-point career mark.

“It means a lot,” said Spann. “It’s a great achievement. A lot of the former players have gotten it. Last year, Faith [Randolph] and Amanda both got it so I was excited to get it.”

Good Counsel junior Sara Woods finished with 19 points.

The Falcons host Holy Cross Friday and travel to St. Mary’s Ryken Monday to close out the regular season.
