metro logoD.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department units transported a woman with non-life threatening injuries after she fell on the tracks at Van Ness Metro Station Friday morning, causing delays in both directions of the Red Line, a spokesperson said.

Metro said in an alert that Red Line trains were being single-tracked between Friendship Heights and Van Ness stations due to the medical emergency.

D.C. Fire and EMS spokesperson Vito Maggiolo said the department received a call at 8:18 a.m. reporting an injured person at Van Ness Station.

“My notes indicate that she fell on tracks and by the time we arrived she was back up on the platform,” said Maggiolo of the injured woman.

A train never made contact with the woman, Maggiolo said.
