County forms task force to combat human trafficking

hands tiedCounty Executive Ike Leggett announced the creation of the county’s new Human Trafficking Task Force at a press conference on June 5.


The 16-member task force will focus on improving services for victims, creating potential legislation to combat trafficking and raising awareness of the different types of trafficking that exist in the county. Members come from a number of county government offices as well as nonprofit advocacy organizations and service providers.



MCPS requires concussion testing for student athletes


impactLogoMontgomery County Public Schools now require all student athletes to undergo baseline concussion testing before their athletic season. The county has spent $20,000 for an annual license agreement to use the neurocognitive tests to determine if a young athlete has recovered from a concussion.
