It was neck and neck throughout the entire game, as both teams had trouble putting points on the board. The Bengals had open shots in abundance but missed enough of them to impact their game.

“Shots are like rain, sometimes it drips, sometimes it pours, and we’re going to start having some things pour,” said Blake head coach Christopher Towle.

Watkins Mill Wolverines stun Blake Bengals 20-13

WM Wolverines vs. Blake BengalsSILVER SPRING — The Watkins Mill Wolverines knew just what they needed to do: come into Bengal Field Friday, ruin Blake’s Senior Night, close out the regular season with a win and hope for a playoff berth.

Mission accomplished.

The scrappy Wolverines took advantage of a stalled Blake offense and sent the Bengals into the postseason with a 20-13 loss.

In fact, the Blake offense didn’t score until the third quarter as the Watkins Mill defense forced a first half shutout.

Paint Branch rolls over Blake in rivalry game 35-15

PB Panthers vs. Blake BengalsSILVER SPRING – The Paint Branch Panthers are on cruise control just in time for the postseason.

The squad from Burtonsville rolled into Bengal Field Friday to face consortium rival Blake. The visiting Paint Branch Panthers dominated the time of possession and steamrolled the Blake Bengals 35-15.

Both teams entered the game with a 7-1 record. In fact, this season’s Bengals boast the best record in school history. However, Blake couldn’t get much going offensively and the Panthers took advantage.

The Paint Branch defense would have registered a shutout in the first half had it not been for Blake junior quarterback Terrill Sims, who shoved his way through the pile at the goal line for a three-yard score.
