Va. Circuit Court judge sentences man to 48 years for murders of Lyon sisters

Updike Jr. sentenced a man to 48 years for the murders of two young girls who disappeared from Montgomery County in 1975, according to court records.

Lloyd Lee Welch pleaded guilty to the first-degree murders he committed March 25, 1975, of sisters Sheila Mary Lyon, 12, and Katherine Mary Lyon, 10, according to court records.

Woman charged with perjury in Lyon sisters grand jury testimony

lyonsistersBEDFORD COUNTY, V.A. – Virginia authorities have charged Patricia Welch, a relative of Lloyd Lee Welch and the wife of Richard Welch, with perjury related to her testimony in the Lyon sisters grand jury proceedings. She was arrested almost immediately after testifying in front of the grand jury on Dec. 5 and was released on $3,000 bond. Welch’s next court date is set for Jan. 8 in Bedford County, Va.
