COLLEGE PARK – Once again, Seneca Valley’s dream season came to a premature ending in a Maryland 3A state semifinal game at Xfinity Center.

Despite a valiant effort, the Screaming Eagles could not overpower Potomac and fell to the Wolverines, 66-59.

Brandon Simpson led three Seneca Valley seniors in double figures with a game-high 26 points; Tyran Crawford finished with 12 points and Kareem Matthew scored 10 points for the Screaming Eagles who lost in the state semifinal round for the second year in a row.

“A lot of these guys have been with us for three years and it’s hard to say goodbye,” Seneca Valley head coach Brian Humphrey said afterward. “We’re honored and we’re blessed for that.”
