Five arrested for armed robbery may be connected to string of MoCo crimes

Montgomery County Police arrested five suspects for allegedly robbing a Wheaton check-cashing store at gunpoint while the sixth suspect was killed fleeing police after a pursuit across county lines Friday.

Miguel A. Ayala-Rivera, 23, Marcio Avila-Castro, 21, Edwin Geovanny Zelaya-Ramirez,17, Yeruin J. Romero-Rivera, 21, and Juan R. Ramirez-Delgado, 34, were arrested and charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault and the use of a firearm during the commission of a violent felony, a Nov. 4 police press release stated.

At approximately 12:35 p.m. on Friday, police officers from the 4th District Police Station responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Check Cash Depot store at 11246 Georgia Avenue in Wheaton.

Local educator held with no bail in robbery

A local woman remains in jail with no bond after being charged in connection with a robbery scheme.

Police arrested and charged an 18-year-old man and 33-year-old school teacher in connection with robbing two men at gun point in a planned robbery in Gaithersburg.

City of Gaithersburg police arrested and charged Nelson Leiva, 18, and Lakeisha Burrison, 33, with armed robbery after holding up two men at gun point in a Gaithersburg parking lot in July. While Leiva was released on bond after he turned himself into police, Montgomery County District Court Judge John C. Moffett denied bond to Burrison.

Local man sentenced to life in prison for killing

ROCKVILLE – Surrounded by her friends and family and dressed in a long white t-shirt bearing the face of her dead son Marc St. Aubin, Susan St. Aubin solemnly spoke after one the men responsible for his death, Tavon Miles, was sentenced to life in prison.

A jury convicted Miles, a 29 year-old resident of Gaithersburg, of first degree murder, burglary and armed robbery, leading Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Joseph Quirk to sentence him to life in prison plus 20 years Thursday.

Police catch Wheaton man they say is responsible for sex offenses, kidnapping and armed robberies

WHEATON - Montgomery County police have caught the man they say is responsible for committing armed robberies, sexual assaults and other crimes in the Wheaton area since Dec. 1.

According to court records, county police officers arrested 20-year-old Christian A. Jordan of the 3000 block of Plyers Mill Road in Wheaton on Dec. 11. Officers charged him with three counts of armed robbery, three counts of kidnapping and two counts of first-degree sex offense.

Takoma Park man arrested for three bank robberies

A 46-year-old Takoma Park man has been arrested and charged with three counts of armed robbery.

On Monday the Montgomery County Police Department’s Major Crimes Division detectives located and arrested Morris Kenneth Thweatt of the 7600 block of Maple Avenue in Takoma Park for the robberies of three banks in Silver Spring.
