Chekhov-inspired comedy opens Highwood Theatre’s season

He fulfilled that need in the past by serving as a U.S. Navy officer for 27 years, then as an engineer and diving and salvage engineer, also for the Navy.

Now he gets that fix onstage.

For over six years, he’s performed as an actor in the D.C. area. “I get to do fun stuff and be different people,” Fiske said.

His current role is Vanya in Christopher Durang’s comedy “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike,” the production launching Highwood Theatre’s 2017-2018 season. The play also stars Margaret Condon as Sonia, Rachel Varley as Masha, Thomas Shuman as Spike, Kecia Campbell as Cassandra, and Amber James as Nina.

Bethesda 'Laugh Riot' Ensues Featuring Celebrity Comedians

BETHESDA – At the Positano Italian Restaurant, a new comedy show is in town.

Formerly at a different venue, “Laugh Riot” is a comedy show being hosted weekly in a section at the back of the eatery.

On a stage no bigger than some of the tables, stand-up comedians do their bits for the cheap price of $10 admission.

“[Laugh Riot] always gets great shows, they’re well-organized, and you always get a laugh. I come at every opportunity,” said Trish, a local resident.

Rockville native to be featured in Fox comedy series

riotcomedianROCKVILLE - At Meryl Hathaway’s fifth-grade graduation from Luxmanor Elementary School, she told the class she wanted to be in a movie. Years later, Hathaway is achieving part of her dream as a cast member on Fox’s “Riot”, a show that Hathaway describes as a mix of ABC’s “Wipe Out” and improvisational comedy.  The show is produced by actor/comedian Steve Carell and will feature a celebrity host every week.
