That was some of the wisdom imparted by actor Jason Kravits to the 2018 graduating class of Colonel Zadok Magruder High School at its June 1st graduation at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.

Raskin invokes high school’s namesake at Einstein graduation

KENSINGTON — U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin (8th District) invoked the character and achievements of Albert Einstein as he addressed the Albert Einstein High School Class of 2018 during its graduation Tuesday afternoon.

Einstein stood strong against Nazism and fascism. He was a scientific genius who valued imagination over knowledge and an immigrant who in 1933 left the violence and hatred Adolph Hitler was spewing and began life in America, Raskin told the students.

Police arrest and charge two male students with rape at high school

Montgomery County Police arrested and charged two male students, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, in connection with the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl at a high school, according to a news release.

The two individuals are being held without bond, according to Montgomery County State’s Attorney Spokesperson Ramon Korionoff.

Environmental literacy made Md. graduation requirement

school busIn 2012, the Maryland State Department of Education passed new regulations requiring graduating high school seniors to be environmentally literate, making Maryland the only state in the country with this requirement. The Maryland Environmental Literacy Partnership (MELP) seeks to provide teachers throughout the state with the necessary tools to help their students meet this requirement. Coordinated by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in partnership with the Department of Education, the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and nine leading Maryland school districts, MELP provides training which immerses teachers in the environments they study in the classroom.
