PHOTO BY MARK POETKER  GAITHERSBURG – Montgomery County Police Chief Tom Manger announced Saturday night police arrested three people in connection with the murder of students Shadi Adi Najjar, 17, and Artem S. Ziberov, 18, from Northwest High School.

Police arrested Edgar Garcia-Gaona, 24, Roger Garcia, 19, and Jose Ovilson Canales-Yanez, 25. Each was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

County police investigating double homicide in Montgomery Village

Montgomery County police are investigating a double homicide of two high school students that occurred inside a vehicle on the 8200 block of Gallery Court in Montgomery Village Monday night.

Police identified the victims as a 17-year-old boy, Shadi Adi Najjar of Breezedale Lane in Germantown, and an 18-year-old man, Artem S. Ziberov, of Flag Harbor Drive in Germantown on Tuesday.

Montgomery County Public Schools spokesperson Gboyinde Onijala said both victims were seniors at Northwest High School and were scheduled to graduate Tuesday.

10 suspects arrested in connection with Gaithersburg teen’s death

Fairfax County Police said Wednesday that officers took 10 suspects into custody in connection with the death of a Gaithersburg teenager, according to a police news release.

Police charged the suspects with abduction and gang participation, according to the release.

Police said detectives from both Fairfax and Montgomery counties continue to investigate the killing of 15-year-old Damaris A. Reyes Rivas of Gaithersburg, whose death they confirmed Monday. Her body was found in Springfield, Va.

Takoma Park apartment residents in the dark during murder investigation

TAKOMA PARK— Individuals who lived in or near an apartment building where a woman was murdered two weeks ago said they either knew nothing about the crime or that they learned the facts from local media. 

The killing of pregnant female resident Maria Veronica Mbunga, 36, in late April remained under Takoma Park police investigation as of Monday afternoon, and detectives on the case were not available to comment.

Montgomery County police said they are investigating the death of 63-year old Gaithersburg resident Steven Skalabrin as a homicide after the townhouse he had been living in caught fire on March 29.

County police investigate 17th homicide of the year

murder1BETHESDA – Montgomery County homicide detectives are investigating the county’s 17th homicide of the year.

The murder occurred Tuesday morning in an apartment at White Flint Station in the 11800 block of Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda. MCPD Captain Paul Starks said county police and EMS units responded to the apartment building shortly after 10 a.m. for a reported body inside an apartment.
