Springbrook heads to Comcast

 

SILVER SPRING – When twin brothers Aaron and Andrew Robinson were freshmen at Springbrook, the basketball team was coming off three straight state titles in basketball. 
The team did not win a fourth straight title that year. Fast forward to the twins’ senior year and the team had not even returned to the Comcast Center at College Park—site of the state championships.

MoCo football coaching carousel continues

Coach-KelleyQuince Orchard High School has announced the hiring of former assistant John Kelley as the Cougars’ new head football coach.
Kelley, a Seneca Valley graduate, has spent the past five seasons as Quince Orchard’s defensive coordinator and will replace Dave Mencarini who resigned last month after a decade at the Gaithersburg public school to become the head coach at Urbana in Frederick County.

Whitman Wins Regional Title!

SILVER SPRING – Whitman sophomore guard Kyle Depollar dribbled out the game clock and tossed the ball into the air following the Vikings’ 49-44 win Friday over Clarksburg at Blair’s Nelson H. Kobren Memorial Gymnasium.
The victory helped Whitman capture the 4A West Region championship and sent the Bethesda public school back to Comcast Center for the first time in nearly a decade.
