ROCKVILLE -The state of Maryland had a primary election and in some precincts very few voters, if any, showed up. In official election reports obtained from the state Board of Elections and the Montgomery County Board of Elections, two polling places had no voters, seven precincts had less than ten voters and 12 precincts had less than 100 voters.
Jennie Forehand, a Maryland State Senator who represents Gaithersburg and Rockville, will be retiring after 36 years in the state legislature. Forehand has advocated for developing the state’s infrastructure, ending human trafficking and bettering Maryland’s education services.
County Executive incumbent Ike Leggett won the Democratic primary on June 24 and will face Republican Jim Shalleck in November.
“There are no overriding huge issues that go to the core of where we are at a county, there are always challenges, there are always things that you can improve, but I don’t think there is anything that people can look at and say Montgomery County has fallen significantly short,” Leggett said.
