Green Party candidate files for County Council at-Large

BETHESDA – Green Party candidate Tim Willard of Kensington has filed with the County Board of Elections to run for the County Council at Large in 2018.

“I’m running on a platform of sustainability,” Willard said. “We have start planning an end to growth, it’s getting expensive, and we have to figure out how we go into the future,” he added.

Board recommends new school for G-Burg

ROCKVILLE — The Board of Education discussed a list of recommendations from the interim superintendent on how to resolve Gaithersburg Cluster elementary school crowding Monday. 

Montgomery County Public Schools Interim Superintendent Larry Bowers said March 15 that he recommended three steps to address overcrowding in Gaithersburg Cluster elementary schools: an addition to Gaithersburg Elementary School, separating the campus into two schools; planning a boundary study to re-assign Gaithersburg Cluster residents within the Shady Grove Sector Plan to Magruder Cluster; and replacing temporary portable classrooms at Summit Hall Elementary. He made these recommendations after reviewing a list of recommendations by a tri-cluster panel composed of community members from the Gaithersburg, Wootton and Magruder clusters.
