Former Einstein standout running back and second team All-Sentinel performer Malcolm Crockett has verbally committed to play college football at the University of Cincinnati.

“I think it’s terrific,” Einstein head coach Mike Bonavia said. “It’ll be a great fit for him.”

As a sophomore during the 2008 campaign, Crockett rushed for more than 1,500 yards, tops in the county.

Crockett, who received offers from 10 schools — including Michigan, Georgia Tech, Rutgers and West Virginia — was described by Bonavia as a “great talent” who was “very coachable” and “worked real hard.”

Last season, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound dynamo rushed for 776 yards and scored 12 touchdowns for Friendship Collegiate Academy in Washington, D.C.

“He’s a prototypical Division I running back,” Bonavia said.
