COLUMBIA – Sherwood guard Amanda Allen shined March 16 in the CKA Senior All-Star Basketball Game at Howard Community College.

Allen, who finished with 18 points, helped lead the blue squad to a 104-77 victory over the white team.

“I feel good,” said Allen, who has committed to play at Salisbury University next season. “I didn’t really know what to expect coming here, but everyone was awesome, and it was fun to play with everyone because everyone is an all-star out there, so it’s cool.”

Allen played on a blue team that was guided by Paint Branch head coach Rochelle Coleman and also featured Clarksburg forward Allie Janowiak who finished with seven points.

Atholton’s Ryan Jones led the blue team with 25 points, and Annapolis guard Kayla Johnson finished with 21 points. Krishauna Davenport, a 6-foot center from Forest Park, scored 13 points in a winning effort.

Jaala Henry, a 6-foot, 3-inch forward from National Christian Academy, appeared unstoppable at times.

“She’s awesome,” said Allen. “It helps when it’s not just guards on the floor because then you have someone to dump it down into and she’s awesome and she’s a great player.”

The University of Pittsburgh recruit finished with 10 points and was named Most Valuable Player for the blue team.

“She is a stud,” said Watkins Mill head coach Donita Adams, who coached the white team. “I told her she shouldn’t even been playing. She was killing us down low, grabbing rebounds. Doing some up and unders, I mean she was killing. She should already be at Pitt.”

Coppin Academy’s Ny’sja Bradford led the white team with 10 points, but the squad also got a solid performance from Springbrook guard Jaylen Harris, Watkins Mill guard Brittanie Wray and Wolverines forward Rokhyatou Sidibe along with Springbrook’s Tianna Brown and Kassandra Salazar.
