Coach of the Year - Paul Foringer, Quince Orchard
One of Montgomery County’s longest-tenured coaches, Foringer led the Gaithersburg public school to an improbable postseason run in the Maryland 4A state playoffs. The Cougars, who finished the campaign at 24-3, upset previously unbeaten Wise in the state semifinal before falling in overtime to Perry Hall in the state final, 59-56.
Player of the Year - Bryan Knapp, Jewish Day School, Sr.
Knapp, a Cornell recruit, was a four-year varsity performer at the Rockville private school and scored a career-high 40 points in his final game to lead the Lions to a 24-3 record including the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference tournament championship. The area’s third-leading scorer, Knapp averaged 26.9 points per game and accumulated more than 1,800 points during his high school career.
