Stefanelli to replace Milloy as Good Counsel football coach

Good Counsel has found a replacement for head coach Bob Milloy who stepped down last month after half a century coaching Maryland high school football.

The Olney private school has promoted Andy Stefanelli, a 1983 Good Counsel graduate who has served as the Falcons’ freshman head coach and recruiting coordinator for the past eight seasons.

During his tenure at Good Counsel, Stefanelli has compiled a 71-2 record.

“I am thrilled and honored to be named the head football coach at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, my alma mater,” said Stefanelli. “I hope to carry on the rich tradition that has been established by Coach Milloy.”

Milloy, who spent 47 years coaching Maryland high school football, compiled 405 wins during his tenure.

“I’m 73 years old,” said Milloy. “I just really felt like it was time. I felt like it was the right time. It’s a young man’s game. I enjoyed it and loved every minute of it.”

Top Varsity Football Coach Announces Retirement

Veteran football coach Bob Milloy has announced his retirement after a 47-year career with 405 wins, the most of any coach in the history of high school football in the state of Maryland. He completes his career ranked number sixteen nationwide on the all-time win list.

LANDOVER – A Good Counsel reunion took place on the gridiron Nov. 13 when the Washington Redskins hosted the Minnesota Vikings at FedEx Field.

Former Good Counsel teammates Stefon Diggs, a second-year Vikings wide receiver, and Kendall Fuller, a rookie Redskins cornerback, played against each other.

“They used to go at it every day in practice, so it was so cool to watch them,” said Good Counsel Head Coach Bob Milloy.

Ibrahim’s TDs, Paschal’s tough D pushes Good Counsel past McNamara

OLNEY – Good Counsel senior running back Mo Ibrahim scored three touchdowns against Bishop McNamara Friday, leading the host Falcons to a 43-0 shutout victory.

Ibrahim, the Falcons’ all-time leading scorer, said his team had a challenging first quarter when neither team scored.

However, in the second quarter, Good Counsel (5-2) racked up 16 points, including nine from defensive lineman Josh Paschal.

The senior put the Falcons on the board first with a safety and later on a 28-yard touchdown reception from senior quarterback Travis Nannen.

“It picked up very slow,” Ibrahim said. “After Josh got that safety, the tone changed.”
