Good Counsel seniors Kendall Fuller and Dorian O’Daniel will share the national spotlight this weekend when the dynamic duo competes in the annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl game.

The game billed as the nation’s premier high school all-star football game is televised on NBC and serves as a launching pad for future college and NFL stars. The list of alumni includes Adrian Peterson, Andrew Luck, Tim Tebow and Marcus Lattimore.

The 2013 game marks the third consecutive year Good Counsel has had someone participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Stefon Diggs played in last year’s game and Blake Countess was on the roster in 2011. Akeem Hebron played in the game back in 2006.

Meanwhile, Seneca Valley standout Kevin “Twos” Joppy was invited to participate in the U.S. Army National Combine featuring the nation’s top 500 juniors. Joppy will compete at the San Antonio Alamodome against elite student-athletes from around the country.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing,” said Joppy. “I’m just going to go down there and do my best. Hopefully, I’ll make it.”

Joppy said he looks forward to representing his school, county and state at the combine. If he’s selected to play in next year’s U.S. Army All-American Bowl game he would become the first Montgomery County public school football player to be chosen. He would also become the first player selected from a county school other than Good Counsel.

“It would mean a lot to me,” said Joppy. “It’s an All-American game. I never thought I’d get invited. I always watched it on TV but I never thought I’d play in the game.”
