The Bowie Baysox recently announced an event that will bring fun and fitness to all at Prince George’s Stadium on Sunday, May 5.
The Baysox have joined forces with the DC Running Club to host the Baysox Cinco De Mayo 5K and Kids Fitness Run. All of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Bowie Health Center, the Bowie Police Explores and Louie’s Holiday Hope Project.
Baysox Assistant General Manager Phil Wyre helped organize this event, and he is ecstatic to become a part of the celebration again.
“Last season’s charity 5K was a great success, and we are excited to bring the race back this year,” Wyre said. “With all the groups that will benefit, the event is a great cause and something the entire family can come out and enjoy.”
Tickets will be on sale for $30 if they are ordered by April 17 or $35 until the deadline. Tickets for the Kids Fitness Run are $14, and they can be purchased at www.dcrunningclub.com. Each entry fee includes an official T-shirt.
Each 5K participant will also have an opportunity to setup a fundraising page, and those who raise $50 or more will be entered into a raffle to win autographed Baysox memorabilia. The top three fundraisers will receive a signed Bowie Baysox bat, jersey or ball.
The last day to register for this event will be on Friday, May 3.
All of the 5K participants will be able to watch and cheer on the youngsters as they run close to the length of a football field in two back-and-forth relays.
Race packets will be distributed on the day of the race, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie.
