Black versus Gold game showcases Bowie State talent

Bowie State University hosted its spring Black versus Gold football game on Saturday. Suitland graduate and BSU quarterback Nyema Washington threw a touchdown pass for the Gold Team late in the fourth quarter, and his team won 27-22. The Bulldogs have a young roster this coming season, but head coach Damon Wilson is confident that his new collection of recruits and returning players will be able to get the job done this upcoming season.

DeMatha lacrosse narrowly defeats St. Johns

DeMatha’s lacrosse team defeated St. Johns 11-9 on Tuesday, April 16. The Stags were firing on all cylinders and captured their eighth win of the season. DeMatha junior Brady Thompson scored three goals and had three assists to account for five points. Fellow teammates Greyson Torrain and Tyler Najarian also scored two goals in the victory.

Riverdale Baptist baseball shuts out The Heights

Riverdale Baptist’s baseball team knocked down The Heights 10-0 at Terrill Field on Friday. Brody Cook earned player of the game honors for his impressive multifaceted performance. Cook went two for two at the plate with two doubles. He also had a walk, scored two runs and tallied two RBIs. Cook did his part fielding as well by adding two putouts from third base. The Crusaders are now 21-1.

Bowie softball creams DuVal

Bowie High School’s softball team crushed DuVal 15-3 on Saturday. DuVal senior Deidra Burton had two hits, scored two runs, and is currently batting over .300 for the Tigers this year. It was a lopsided contest, but the Bulldogs asserted themselves to notch an important victory over a heated rival late in the season.
