Verizon Wireless donates $5K grant to help assault victims

Continuing its commitment to domestic violence prevention, Verizon Wireless has awarded a $5,000 grant to the Prince George’s Hospital Center’s sexual assault program.  The grant check was presented to Prince George’s County’s State’s Attorney Glenn Ivey in honor of his longstanding leadership against domestic violence as he prepares to leave public office.

The Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s office has a longstanding partnership with the Prince George’s County Hospital Center and has worked to provide training and support services for victims, hospital staff and law enforcement.

The grant from Verizon Wireless, made possible by the company’s HopeLine Phone recycling program, will support the training of law enforcement and medical staff and the production of educational and victim resource materials, including the “SAFE” cards, which law enforcement officers give to victims.

Verizon Wireless’ long-running HopeLine program collects no-longer-used wireless phones and equipment in any condition from any service provider.

More information about HopeLine can be found at www.verizonwireless.com/hopeline.
