Check your hearing
If you suspect you are having trouble with your hearing, you should seek treatment from a licensed audiologist or other hearing health care professional to ensure the proper diagnosis. Hearing aids are not always the proper course of treatment. According to Health magazine, using a hearing aid without proper examination, diagnosis and counseling can lead to treatment outcomes and increased risks of omitting an evaluation by a licensed audiologist, which could require medical intervention and subsequent hearing loss as a result of improper fitting or programming of hearing aids. There are many possible causes of hearing loss, such as blockages in the outer ear, ear infections, head injury, medication, Meniere’s disease and fistula — which is an abnormal opening between the middle and inner ear that causes fluid to leak from the inner ear.
