Temple Hills eviction leads to two-hour standoff

Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrived at the Lynnhill Condominiums on Good Hope Ave., in Temple Hills, to carry out a court-ordered eviction. The order, which was a Breach of Lease, was signed by a judge on Oct. 28. The deputies, following standard operating procedures, knocked and announced themselves at 3103 Good Hope Ave #112. The tenant, a military veteran, was home but refused to open the door. Several attempts were made to convince the tenant to open the door, but they failed.

Minimal amounts of force were used to gain entry and the tenant was found on the couch with a knife and gun in each hand.

The deputies backed out of the condo and called for assistance. The standoff/negotiations lasted approximately two hours. The deputies subdued the tenant and took her into custody.  The knife and gun, which turned out to be a pellet gun, were recovered.

The eviction was subsequently carried out and the tenant was transported to an area hospital for an emergency psychological evaluation. Criminal charges will follow.
