Army Col. John T. Owens III has graduated from the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle, Pa., and earned a master’s degree in Strategic Studies. The college is the Army’s senior educational institution. He is the son of John T. and Grace M. Owens of Bowie. His wife, Andrea, is the daughter of Joseph L. and Barbara D. Howard of Capitol Heights. The colonel graduated in 1981 from Largo Senior High School and received a bachelor’s degree in 1985 from Morgan State University in Baltimore.

Army Pvt. Brandon C. Walker graduated from the Field Artillery Automated Tactical Data Systems Specialist Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Walker is the son of Veleria L. Walker-Coley of Oxon Hill.

Air Force Tech. Sgt. Jermaine A. Young has graduated from the Air Force Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Hickam Air Force Base, Honolulu, Hawaii. Young, an air terminal operations center senior controller, has served in the military for 15 years. He is the son of Alice L. Young of Orangeburg, S.C., and Garfield R. Jenkins of Upper Marlboro and brother of Soydonya Young of South Bend, Ind.
