St. Jerome’s senior luncheon
Hats off to St. Jerome’s Church for its seniors’ luncheon June 13! We enjoyed a scrumptious meal at Mulligan’s Restaurant, which overlooks the golf course at the University of Maryland, College Park. It was great fun to renew old friendships and to see faces that we have not seen for a while.
May he rest in peace
It is very sad to hear of the passing of Jack Andres, a long-time Hyattsville resident. He and his wife, Laura, were married for 62 years, raised their five children here and were active members of St. Jerome’s Church and Friends of DeMatha. They sold their house at 43rd and Ingraham and moved to Riderwood Village in recent years. I will miss him dearly.
Visit the farmers’ market
The Riverdale Park Farmers’ Market is open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays at the Riverdale Park Town Center, 4650 Queensbury Road. Come on out for live entertainment.
Summer jazz concerts
Riverdale Park is also sponsoring summer jazz concerts at the Riverdale Mansion, located at 4811 Riverdale Road. These jazz concerts are similar to Hyattsville’s jam sessions. The concerts begin at 7 p.m. and will be held on the evenings of June 26, July 17, July 31, Aug. 7 and Aug. 21. I hope to see you there.
Helping HAP help seniors
Tom Slezak, president of the Hyattsville Community Foundation, recently gave a check in the amount of $500 to Lisa Walker, Board of Directors chairman of the Hyattsville Aging in Place. The grant was given to the organization for its work assisting older residents of the city. HAP had a most successful picnic for the seniors on Sunday at Magruder Park. It was well attended and a great time was had by all.
