A 59-year-old man, who barricaded himself in his Laurel home after allegedly killing his wife and stepdaughter, is now in custody.
Just before 10 a.m. Monday, Prince George’s County 911 Call Center received a call from an adult at his home in the 16100 block of Malcolm Drive in Laurel threatening to harm himself, said Lt. William Alexander, Prince George’s County Police Department spokesman.
When police arrived on the scene, they successfully negotiated the man’s surrender, police officials said.
PGPD Special Operation Division’s Team (SWAT) discovered the man’s wife and stepdaughter fatally shot. Police spokeswoman Julie Parker said their bodies were found on the first floor near the front door.
A 15-year-old boy, the man’s son, was able to escape and run for his life. The boy was transported to police headquarters to be interviewed by county police.
Police are trying to determine why the man allegedly went on a shooting rampage.
