An 18-year-old Central High School junior was shot to death early Tuesday morning while walking to school in Capitol Heights.
Just before 7 a.m., Prince George’s County Police and Fire departments were called to the 6100 block of Central Avenue for a reported person down, according to PGPD spokeswoman Julie Parker.
When units arrived on the scene, they discovered Marckel Norman Ross, of the 400 block of Able Avenue, suffering multiple gun shots to his upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene, Parker said.
As of deadline Tuesday, investigators were continuing to look for a suspect and to establish a motive in the shooting.
Prince George’s County Public Schools released a statement that school officials are “saddened beyond measure.”
