A second suspect was arrested last week for a November homicide on Martin Luther King Jr. Highway in Seat Pleasant.
Prince George’s County Police Department officials announced Friday that Joshua Jermaine Benton, 23, of Southeast, Washington, D.C., was apprehended and charged with first-degree murder and related charges.
Just before midnight Nov. 16, Seat Pleasant Police Department responded to the 5600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway for a reported shooting. Police found Sharod Darnell James, also of Southeast, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Prince George’s County paramedics transported James to a local trauma center where he was pronounced dead, said police officials.
On Nov. 21, officers arrested Lawson Mahdi, 24, of Upper Marlboro, in connection with this murder. Mahdi was charged with second-degree murder and related charges.
The preliminary investigation, a source said, suggests the murder was drug related.
