Woodland Indian Discovery Day
Learn to see fields, forests, rivers and streams the Yaocomaco way and you’ll see clothing, food, tools, building materials, weapons and toys.
During Woodland Indian Discovery Day at Historic St. Mary’s City on Sept. 11, discover how the first Marylanders’ comfortable lifestyle was based on a keen understanding of their natural surroundings.

From 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., try the skills the Woodland Indians mastered to create household and decorative items from plant and animal materials.
Special activities are included in general admission to the museum: $10 adult, $3.50 for children age 6-12, and free for those under 5 years and Friends members.
Start your visit at the HSMC Visitor Center, 18751 Hogaboom Lane. Woodland Indian Discovery Day is presented with generous support from the Historic St. Mary’s City Foundation.

9th Annual Pigtown Festival
Presented by the Pigtown Main Street Program, the festival is a celebration of this historic neighborhood and will feature arts & crafts from local artisans; as assortment of food; The Raven Beer “The Official Beer of the Pigtown Festival”; neighborhood informational booths; Blue Sky Puppet Theater and a variety of local and regional bands. There will also be the festival favorite...the traditional “running of the pigs,” and new for the 2010 Pigtown Festival, a Vintage Car Show.
The festival is free to the public.

Historic Pigtown, located in Southwest Baltimore close to the B&O Railroad Museum, received its eponymous name from an historic event that took place during the second half of the 19th century when pigs offloaded from B&O Railroad cars coming in from the Midwest were herded across Ostend and Cross Streets to slaughterhouses that were located in South Baltimore.

A Day Out with Thomas: The Celebration Tour 2010
All Thomas fans are invited to spend the day with their favorite engine and celebrate his 65th birthday from Sept. 11to Sept. 19. This nine-day event will include activities and excitement for the whole family.

Charles County Fair
The 86th Annual Charles County Fair celebrates Charles County’s long agricultural heritage and history Sept. 16-19.
