Wise leaves Laurel in the dust

Wise’s baseball team crushed Laurel 9-1 last Wednesday. The win included an explosive 10-run second inning. Wise Ace Sterling Swann pitched five innings and struck out seven to earn his fourth win of the season. Junior outfielder Isaiah Black was perfect at the plate with three hits, three runs scored and an RBI.

DuVal beats Bladensburg

DuVal’s softball team defeated Bladensburg 17-12 last Wednesday to earn its sixth win this season. Senior Deidra Burton had three hits including a double, scored three runs and drove in an RBI. Enewa Emaikwu also had a solid hitting performance at the plate; she scored two runs and had one hit and two RBIs. Paulita Holmes pitched six innings for the Tigers and struck out five batters.

DeMatha slides by Good Counsel

DeMatha’s baseball team slipped by Good Counsel 8-7 last Thursday. Senior infielder Carl Colbert was named player of the game. Colbert was masterful at the plate with two hits, three RBIs, and he scored a run as well, with two doubles under his belt. Junior Justin Morris had two hits and three RBIs also to help his team clinch its 16th win this season.

New Redskin throws first pitch

Washington Redskins cornerback E.J. Biggers threw out the first pitch at Prince George’s Stadium on Sunday. The newly acquired defensive back from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers addressed the audience and made time to sign autographs for the fans during the Baysox contest against the Harrisburg Senators, the Washington Nationals AA affiliate.
