Wise defensive back Marcus Allen capped off his junior season on top as a champion, and he hopes to translate that same success for Pennsylvania State University. Allen orally committed to playing for the Nittany Lions on Friday.
Allen is considered to be a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, and he helped lead the Pumas to their first Maryland Class 4A Championship title. The ball hawking safety mulled over 25 scholarship offers, but he finally decided to take his talents to State College.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound standout was recruited by Penn State defensive line coach Larry Johnson, who has 18 years of experience coaching with the program. Johnson also helped bolster Penn State’s lineup by bringing local DeMatha product Mark Allen on board at the running back position.
Marcus Allen racked up 69 tackles, had two interceptions, and forced two fumbles last season. In the 4A Championship game, he accounted for 11 tackles to squeeze by perennial powerhouse Quince Orchard.
