Police arrest bank robbery suspect

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Robbery Unit has arrested the suspect wanted in connection with six bank robberies that occurred in Largo and Bowie.

In collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Anne Arundel County Police Department, Damon Keith Roberts, Jr., 47, was arrested yesterday at his home in Landover. Roberts has been charged with six counts of robbery and remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections.

During each robbery, Roberts entered the bank posing as a customer and passed a note to the teller demanding money. Once he obtained the money, he fled the scene on foot. None of the victims were injured during any of the incidents. The following banks were robbed: Chevy Chase Bank in the 6100 block of High Bridge Road on July 8 at 10:55 a.m., BB&T Bank in the 10500 block of Campus Way South on June 26 at 9:55 a.m., M&T Bank in the 6900 block of Laurel Bowie Road on June 12 at 9:45 a.m., M&T Bank in the 1000 block of Shoppers Way on May 21 at 2:20 p.m., BB&T Bank in the 10500 block of Campus Way South on April 19 at 12:20 p.m. and SunTrust Bank at 24 Watkins Park Drive on March 12 at 12:06 p.m.
