Police investigate fatal stabbing

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a stabbing that left one man dead early Sunday morning in Forestville.

On Aug. 22 at approximately 3:38 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 7700 block of Marlboro Pike for the report of a cutting. Upon arrival, patrol officers found George Harrison Cooper, 25, with trauma to the upper body. Cooper, of NE, Washington D.C., was transported to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed Cooper was patronizing the C.F.E. night club at the time of the incident. He was carried outside the club by other patrons after he was stabbed by an unknown suspect. Cooper later succumbed to his injuries. Detectives have established Cooper has an extensive criminal history in Prince George’s County and in Washington D.C. Detectives are also working to identify the suspect and to establish a motive.

Crash kills pedestrian

A fatal vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred Sunday near 23rd Avenue and University Boulevard in Adelphi. Patrol officers arrived on scene at approximately 8:49 p.m. Aug. 22. An adult male was found lying in the road way unconscious. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

The driver remained on scene. Westbound University Boulevard was shut down and remained closed during the investigation.

Police identify murder suspect

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is seeking assistance in locating Al Julius Tobin, 24, in connection with a homicide occurring last month in Temple Hills.

Detectives have identified Tobin as a suspect in this case and are seeking information on his whereabouts. Tobin is wanted in connection with the murder of William Gwaltney, 32, of SE, Washington, D.C. Gwaltney was found shot after patrol officers responded to the 6900 block of Greenboro Lane on July 28 at approximately 2:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased a short time later.

Police investigate murder in Oxon Hill

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a murder that occurred Aug. 12 in Oxon Hill.

At approximately 9:26 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 1000 block of Marcy Avenue for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered Brian Andre Grant, 21, of Fort Washington, suffering from gunshot wounds to the body. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene a short time later. Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in this case.

Shooting leaves one dead, another injured

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred near the 6800 block of Walker Mill Road in Capitol Heights. On Aug.16 at approximately 9:17 p.m., patrol officers responded to this location for the report of a shooting. When the officers arrived, they found two male victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced dead on the scene and the other was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Riverdale shooting leaves one dead

Prince George’s County police are investigating a homicide that occurred in Riverdale. Around 1:30 a.m. Aug. 27, patrol officers responded to the 5400 block of 56th Place for the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead a short time later.   

Police investigate deadly stabbing

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred early last Sunday morning in Forestville.

At approximately 3:37 a.m. Aug. 22, patrol officers responded to the 2800 block of Parkland Drive for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, patrol officers found Edwin Yoanis Reyes, 21, in a vehicle with trauma to the upper body. Reyes, of Lanham, was transported to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in this case.

Investigation of Capitol Heights murder underway

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the murder of a man that occurred in Capitol Heights.

At approximately 4:50 a.m. Aug. 22, patrol officers responded to the 1700 block of Kenilworth Avenue for a report of an unresponsive male. When officers arrived, they discovered Keith Deantre Washington, 17, of Temple Hills, unresponsive and suffering from trauma to the upper body. Keith Washington was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in this case.

Police seek armed robbery suspect’s identity

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Robbery Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an individual wanted in connection with the armed robbery of a Game Stop.

On Aug. 23 at 6:40 p.m., the suspect walked into Game Stop, located in the 14200 block of Baltimore Avenue in Laurel, posing as a customer. The suspect approached the registers and displayed a handgun. After forcing the victims to the back storage room of the store, the suspect took money, video games and video game entertainment systems, before fleeing the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5-feet10-inches and approximately 195 pounds. The suspect was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, red shirt and blue jeans. The suspect was armed with a black revolver handgun.

Police arrest former coach for molesting a minor

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s District I, Investigative Section, has made an arrest in a sexual assault that occurred in District Heights.

On Aug. 20, 2010, detectives arrested Glen Donell Jones, 45, in connection with sexually assaulting a juvenile. On June 25 at approximately 7:15 p.m., the victim, 16, was sexually assaulted when he was at McNeal’s home in reference to information about an assignment at Northwestern High School. McNeal, who is a former track coach, invited the victim into his apartment and began to touch him inappropriately. Detectives were able to gather enough information to obtain a warrant and made an arrest without incident.

McNeal was remanded to the department of corrections and is currently being held on a $200,000 bond.

Hit-and-run kills pedestrian

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred in Adelphi. 

At approximately 8:49 p.m. Aug. 22, officers responded to the 2200 block of University Boulevard for a report of a vehicle crash with a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they found Jose Daniel Cubias-Rivera, 40, lying unconscious in the roadway. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

Police are seeking information on the striking vehicle, which is described as a dark colored four-door sedan. The vehicle resembles a Toyota Camry.
