Three people were displaced Saturday evening after a fire erupted at a College Park apartment complex.
The fire was reported shortly before 5 p.m. in the 9300 block of Cherry Hill Road at Seven Springs Apartments.
First arriving units reported fire showing from a second floor unit of a three-story, garden-style apartment building with all residents out safely.
Fire officials on the scene told The Sentinel that firefighters brought the fire under control within 10 minutes of arriving on the scene.
According to fire department officials, Potomac Electric Power Company was doing work on a transformer next to the building when a loud boom occurred and a few minutes later fire was coming from the apartment building.
No one was injured battling the fire, said Volunteer Fire Chief William Corrigan of the College Park Volunteer Fire Department.
