Wise remains undefeated

Wise faced Northwestern Saturday in a divisional showdown ending in a lopsided victory. Northwestern got pummeled losing 47-8, and the Wildcats were handed their first loss of the season. The Pumas on the remain undefeated. Wise running back Chase Powell upstaged Northwestern’s leading rusher Darius Victor with four touchdowns and 259 yards rushing. Wise seems to be one of the more dominant teams in the division so far, and no team has been able to stop them yet.

Eleanor Roosevelt pounds Parkdale

Eleanor Roosevelt defeated Parkdale last week 47-12 and its offense seems to be getting better week in and week out. Raiders fullback Mike Mofor hit the century mark rushing 100 yards and earning a pair of touchdowns — one receiving, one rushing. Senior linebacker Julian Rowe recorded four tackles and two sacks. Only suffering their first loss to Wise, the Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders look to pour it on against Laurel next week.

Crossland struggles against Forestville

Forestville grabs a victory against the Crossland Cavaliers in a close 12-8 nail bitter. The Knights’ junior defensive back Marcel Joly did it all — leading his team with six tackles and an interception. He also had 96 yards of total offense and scored one touchdown. The Cavaliers are still trying to find themselves as a team and have dropped their second game as well as suffering a tie earlier this season. However, Forestville is looking for its fifth win of the year against Friendly next Friday.

Back-to-back shutouts for Surrattsville

Surrattsville completely demolished Central in a 32-0 shutout — the second shutout in a row for Surrattsville this season. Sophomore quarterback Robert Harris III tore Central’s hapless defense apart, throwing for 116 yards and three touchdowns. Junior running back Daquan West rushed for a touchdown and caught another one for good measure. Central is still looking for its first under coach Kenny Amaker.

Diggs honored as Terp of the Week

The University of Maryland named Good Counsel graduate Stefon Diggs its Terp of the Week for his performance against West Virginia. The freshman caught three receptions, gaining 113 yards and two touchdowns in a losing effort against the eighth-seeded team in the nation.
