During a statewide drunk driving enforcement operation called Project SOLO (Saving Our Loved Ones), Prince George’s County police officers arrested 10 motorists for driving under the influence and issued more than 190 traffic citations over the Cinco de Mayo weekend.
According to Prince George’s County Police Department news release, police set up sobriety checkpoints along the University Boulevard corridor, Baltimore Avenue, Kenilworth Avenue and Riggs Road. Police officers made more than 170 traffic stops, resulting in 10 DUI arrests and more than 190 traffic citations issued.
PGPD Special Operations Division’s Traffic Enforcement Section and the Aviation Unit on Saturday participated in the “Operation Road Runner” initiative, a safety campaign targeting speeding motorcyclists. Just last Thursday night, two motorcyclists were killed in crash on Route 301 in Brandywine.
More than 40 traffic stops were made by police officers, resulting in more than 45 traffic citations issued. The citations included 37 speed violations, five aggressive driving violations and four seat belt/child safety seat violations.
Prince George’s County Police Department will continue this enforcement throughout the year on known nights for frequent drinking and driving.
