Homicide in Suitland is county's 54th

pgfd1SUITLAND - Detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit are investigating the county's 54th homicide of the year after an adult was shot and killed early Wednesday morning in Suitland.

Just after 2 a.m., units from the county police department, along with units from the county fire department, were called to the 4800 block of Taniger Place near Dupont Heights Park in Suitland.

"Once on the scene, emergency personnel found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body," said Harry Bond, spokesperson for the Prince George's County Police Department. "Paramedics from the Prince George's County Fire Department pronounced the man dead on the scene."

Tom Selya, who lives in the neighborhood, was around when the incident happened.

"This is a nice area," Selya said. "I just came in after walking my dog and I heard the shots maybe two or three minutes later. I heard the sirens and saw the police cars."

According to Bond, the crime does not appear to be random and homicide detectives are trying to establish a motive and possible suspect(s ) as the shooting remains under investigation.
