Police evidence cones covered a Capitol Heights street late Tuesday night after a man was shot and killed.
At around 9 p.m. patrol units from Prince George's County Police Department along with units from the county fire department responded to the 800 block of Kayak Street near the Washington, D.C and Prince George’s County line for a reported shooting.
"When our arrived on the scene they found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds" said Officer Lamar Robinson spokesperson for Prince George's County Police Department. "He was pronounced dead on the scene.”
Sources close to the incident report that the adult was shot multiple times inside a vehicle parked on the street.
"I was in my house and I heard gunshots" said Danny Wright who lives on Kayak Street. “Bang, bang maybe 10 or 12 shots. I knew someone had to be shot with all that gunfire.”
For several hours homicide detectives from the county police department went door to door asking residents if they heard or seen anything.
"I've been living on this street for over 30 years" said Robert Simms. "For the most part it's a quiet neighborhood, but there are times when the teens get a little rowdy, but that happens everywhere nowadays.”
Detectives believe this was not a random shooting and they are working to identify a motive and possible suspect(s).
