SUILTLAND – A 43-year old Mitchellville man has become the 36th homicide victim in the county this year after he was shot in front of an apartment building in Suitland.
On May 29 just before 6:30 p.m., patrol units from the Prince George's County Police Department were called to the Regency Court Apartments in the 3200 block of Swann Road for a disorderly complaint.
“When our units arrived on the scene they discovered two adult males shot,” said Cpl. Lamar Robinson, a spokesperson for the county police department. “Both victims were transported to a trauma center where one of the two victims died from gunshot wounds to his upper body. The other adult male victim suffered what preliminarily appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.”
Police have identified the victim as Bruce Coley of the 12200 block of Kingswell Street in Mitchellville. He had been arrested a number of times for theft, armed carjacking, possession of drugs and other crimes.
Homicide detectives believe this was not a random act and are working to establish a suspect(s) and motive at this time. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the homicide unit at 301-772-4925.
