BLADENSBURG – Detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit are investigating the county's 37th homicide of the year after they found a 26-year-old Bladensburg man dead inside his apartment.
On May 30 just after 2:30 p.m., patrol units from the Prince George's County Police Department were dispatched to the 5400 block of Newton Street to check on the welfare of a person.
“When officers arrived on the scene and made entry into the apartment they discovered Matthew Mickens-Murrey suffering from multiple stab wounds to his body,” said Cpl. Lamar Robinson, spokesperson for the county police department. “He was pronounced dead on the scene.”
Detectives believe this was not a random act and are working to identify a motive and suspect in this incident. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the homicide unit at 301-772-4925.
