Oxon Hill sees county's 40th homicide of the year

homicideOXON HILL – A 26-year-old Oxon Hill man has become the county's 40th homicide victim of the year after he was shot Tuesday night.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., patrol units from the Oxon Hill District of the Prince George's County Police Department responded to a report of a person shot in front of a residence in the 6200 block of Leverett Street in the Glassmanor section of Oxon Hill.

When they arrived, they discovered the victim, who has been identified as Shahim Body of the 6400 block Livingston Road, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Police said he was transported to a trauma center where he died several hours later.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and motive in this case they also believe this was not a random act. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
